I based this recipe on a bottle of Old Speckled Hen I was given. The name comes from a wiley little bantam that lived a long free-range life on our farm by being impossible to catch. Pre-Boil Gravity: 1.047 SG Original Gravity: 1.050 SG Final Gravity: 1.011 SG ABV: 5.3 % IBU: 36 IBU Colour:…

Based on a Hoffbrau beer I found in the supermarket. A dark beer with the normal clove/banana esters and a hint of chocolate from the roasted wheat. I really enjoyed it. A very malty and refreshing German lager. Crisp and with a little malt sweetness. This recipe worked well. The White Labs WLP838 Southern German Lager Yeast gave the beer a really authentic flavour and let the malt shine through. I’ll definitely be brewing this again!
